"I registered a domain name for a family member (J) who wanted a site/domain but did not have the knowledge to go through registration process etc. I added myself in there as a technical contact. They original registration reply email went to J and it listed me as the tech contact. I never thought anything about the fact that I never received the same name. SOMEHOW the whois record shows J as the tech contact and NO LONGER shows me. Of course domain central refuses to let me carry out any technical operations on the domain. Migrating."

"24 Nov 09 - Same for me, support emails never get answered at Domain Central, I was charged GST even though I'm offshore, after numerous emails I gave up, never did get the GST refunded. Alsod their security was compromised, hence the new passwords, makes you wonder about how secure our data is.... BTW I believe this company is owned by Nicholas Bolton of Australian Style Investments of St Kilda in Melbourne. Nick was the maverick investor who tried to shut down Brisconnections, a toll road builder in Queensland, a long running saga that is in the business section of the press nearly everyday. Maybe Nick is too busy with his corporate raiding??"

"Domaincentral.com.au is definitely one of the cheaper providers. Their website is professional. The trouble comes from how long (days and days) it takes to register your domain name. Oh, there is more. Their service is almost non-existent. They either do not reply or if they do it takes absolutely forever. Their live chat is anything but that - you will probably end up dead waiting for someone to actually get to your question. Sorry but spend the extra few bucks and support a comoany that actually wants your business and has a service standard. These guys don't get close."

"My dealings with Domain Central have been the worst I have ever experienced in the industry. They refuse to answer e-mails, phone calls or faxes. They changed my contact e-mail address without my authorisation. They are unwilling to tell me the domain transfer password so I can take my business elsewhere. Buyer beware. These guys are simply awful. I am lodging a formal complaint with the Office of Fair Trading and ICANN."

"Cheap but very poor service. Complete lack of service, service has outages of up to 3 days can cannot find out the reason. Cannot send or receive emails, only some emails are retained with complete days missing at a time. Very few of the massages left ever get returned and when they say they will fix it by a certain time, they don't. The service is inconsistent and therefore seriously DO NOT recommend them."

"Boy, I wish I had read these before I registered our site with this inept company!
As with all the comments below, I have found them to be totally unprofessional, uncaring, frustrating, and I could keep going!
I rang Australian Style who gave me this number - 1300 139 643 - but this is an answering service that purports to take a message but it doesn't even have an answering machine, it's a bluff!
The address of Domain Central is Level 2, 2 QUEEN STREET
MELBOURNE - my next stop!"

"Domain Central "live help desk" has not functioned for days and prior to that had a very long waiting period and non existent service when it was open. I was asked to send an email with my help request but have had no replies. They also changed my password without my permission, apparently due to a security breech. The procedure to reinstate was incredibly difficult (faxing id to them, etc), but i had a relative working for them and when I called he sorted it out. He has left now, very unhappy about how the business is run. BE VERY CAUTIOUS! It appears as if there is now way to them at all now, a very worrying development. They are still taking orders though!"

"I feel better now!! I thought it was me, because I'm not computer literate enough, BUT, it's THEM !! The Help at Domain Central is polite and useless. They now send a form letter email acknowledging my problem, then do nothing, then send another formletter email to say they're closing the ticket...nothing in between!! No help. Nothing. They promise Sitebuilder with Windows on their advert, but insist they don't provide Sitebuilder and I must use Linux with Windows. I'm right and have no recourse. I'm letting it die. That's a good $100 on a webmaster who couldn't help either, plus my subs...all down the drain, goodby DomainCentral, thanks for NOTHING"

"Warning!!! STAY AWAY. I have reached the end of my tether. After sticking with them through stuff-up after stuff-up I finally cannot put my clients and me through any more stress. During the last year domain central have: lost one of my domains, let one expire when they kept telling me the domain issues would be fixed, charged me multiple times for a single domain, PEM is always UNSTABLE and stops working, or is so frustratingly slow, take ages to answer their chat, bull***t on the phone stating that the issue is fixed only to find out 24 hours later that the issue is still there while my websites have suffered from be disconnected from the internet, ALWAYS have billing issues, lie to me continiously and MANY MORE. If you value your domain or your SEO results, STAY AWAY!!!"

"Want a phone number for Domain Central?
Want to actually talk to someone who may know what is going on.
Keep this information at hand for this, or the next time.
I believe that Domain Central is related to Bottle Domains (bottle.com.au).
Have done a basic WHOIS search for domaincentral.com.au and the registrant contact email is: info@australianstyle.com.au. Doing a WHOIS search for bottle.com.au says that their registrant is Australian Style Pty Ltd and lists the contact email as domains@australianstyleip.com.
Coincidence?? I think not.
Also - doing a search at business.gov.au on the ABN/ACN numbers returned shows that for Australia Style and Domain Central both lodged a 33 page change of details document on the 18th December 2008 with the ASIC. And both are reigistered with postcode 3182. This shows that they are the same people. Too much of a coincidence me thinketh.
Looking up Bottle Domains in Whitepages gives 50 Fitzroy St, St Kilda VIC 3182. Australian Style is 134 Canterbury Rd, Middle Park VIC 3206 - maybe a directors home?? dunno?
Bottle Domains phone number is 1300 887 474
Australian Style phone number is 03 8686 7711"

"Hello.
I have had problems with Domain Central's support. The chat service is often operated by people that don't seem to understand what you are saying to them (even if you explain the problem from different angles). I am winding down all of my services with them. They are cheap but there is little follow up when there are problems.
If you operate mone than one type of website level (so beginner and business starter) the control panel can become confused. At two points it would only allow me to add 6 pages through the content management system to a more expensive account that should've been allowed a lot more. Even though I have asked a lot of their systems, they should be able to deliver and they haven't. When I've chased up issues they have always been polite but have often claimed that there is NO PROBLEM and I haven't been able to update sites. 18 months ago they would reply to tickets very quickly but now issues can take nearly a week to get any kind of follow up. They operate a sitebuilder which I don't think is the most modern version, but it is easy to add adsense. Some companies have a more modern version that uploads more reliably.
Probably a good company to learn how to build a basic site with but not a good company if you want follow up or reliable service any more. Sorry guys, one too many let downs.
Try one a little more expensive that you can actually call.

"Started off well last year but this year (2008) has been terrible. Was re-charged for a subscription in April that I had already cancelled... told I complained too late for a refund. Then in November I was charged 4 times for registering a domain & hosting subscription... was told I had clicked 4 times. Got a refund on 3. Now I've discovered that the remaining subscription doesn't work... still working on a result late December. I suppose I should of moved on to a new company in April."

"Dreadful service, 24 hour chat is rarely available, manned by people with poor English skills who cannot resolve problems. Help tickets go into a black hole. Problems are not resolved. Complaints go into same black hole. They refuse to provide a telephone number.
I have asked for a refund after a couple of weeks of utter frustration.
I suppose it is my own fault for going with a cheap operator, they appear to be so cheap they cannot afford to provide an adequate service."

"Domain Central were great to begin with, when they wanted my business it seemed. I started a reseller program with the, which led to complication after complication. I never received a call back or an email after requesting to close the account and for them to deposit the money (which I had in the reseller account)."

"Have signed up a few domain names on Domain Central. A couple have gone through fast, others have taken days due to "billing system" problems, but they did work in the end.
Once they are working they seem to work well though. Control Panel system is easy to work with to make DNS changes etc.
So far so good.."

"i have been with domain central for over a year, but recently their services have gone totally kaput. for three days their billing server was down and they stuffed up all of my domains (5) hosted with them. they kept telling me lies, that they will sort it out but it never happened. so i canceled all services with them. NEVER GO WITH THESE GUYS - they are rude; few times they would ask mid-way through the chat to provide my user name and password because i asked to admit that they plainly lied to me. NEVER AGAIN - DOMAIN CENTRAL"

"DomainCentral.com.au is one of that companies where everything is great until they make a mistake.
This is the way DomainCentral.com.au follows when they make a mistake, they try to make you believe that it was your problem in the first place, and that they simply had nothing to do with it.
Domain Central doesn't offer a phone support, and the reason is simple, they claim it helps them to safe costs, when in reality what they are doing is outsourcing the email support to India.
So, they can claim they are an Australian Company, but you end dealing with an Indian IT support person, that little or nothing cares about your issue.
Not only they fail to provide a quick reply to your tickets, there is no way to follow this tickets up.
Can you believe this? An IT company without a clear ticket tracking system.
So this is an advantage for the people of Domain Central. Why? Well, they can close your tickets at any stage without any clarification.
I registered over 5 domain names with them, and each time it takes more than 72 hours to have your domain ready... with the competition, it takes less than 2 hours. (It is simply amazing the difference).
But not only is the lack of support, but basic rules that brake the Quality Standards of AUDA.
I registered a domain name that DomainCentral.com.au told me it was available. If you visit their main site, they have a section for you to find available domain names.
So I find the domain I wanted, and I proceed with the payment. Domain Central accepted my credit card payment.
They told me the order was being taken care of.
3 Days later, I discover that the domain was ALREADY taken. That means the domain names was never available... but DomainCentral.com.au IT support told me I was wrong, that the order was simply delay. I told them that the WHOIS of the domain pointed to a different owner, and their support simply ignore my complains, until they reallize they sold em a domain name taken.
Not only DomainCentral.com.au was quick enough to take my money, but also to find excuses about why they sold me a domain name already taken, and play the game of delaying the refund .
This means DomainCentral.com.au was allowing me to register and show me as Available a domain already taken.
Are this guy for real?
My advice is stay away from this guys, their support is very poor, they simply are fast in taking the money, but not in providing a quick service.
Obviously, I'm still waiting for my refund... for a domain that I bought, when it was never available!"
